Our Farm Adventure
We're an Alberta born & raised family, that in 2021 decided to leave the big city and buy a quarter section of land in central Alberta, not having ever farmed before. We jumped head first into raising our own animals - 2 cows, chickens and rabbits and grew a passion for growing our own food and becoming more self-reliant. With no farming infrastructure in place except an old fenced pasture we had to really start from scratch and learn on the go. From building shelters to hauling water by hand for the cows, we've embraced the country life and continue to grow and improve.
Fast forward to 2024, we have 27 Lowline Angus beef cattle, free range meat & egg chickens, and meat rabbits. We're now ready to make the jump to direct marketing our grass fed beef. After researching farmer marketing avenues, we found that there weren't many options. Hence, shoplocalfarms.ca was hatched, to assist small producers to have an easy way to market their products to the public in a one-stop, free online platform. We hope this website will assist consumers and farmers alike, for better food, relationships and local economy.
